Elisabeth Condon Blue Flow Lithograph
These limited edition, hand-printed stone lithographs with chine collé were produced in close collaboration with Elisabeth Condon and published by Obee Editions in partnership with the Emerson Dorsch Artist Residency.
The series extends Condon’s ongoing exploration of the flower as both structure and sensation. Since 2022, she has developed centralized compositions built around a five-petal skeletal form, layering poured acrylic, polymer medium, and found materials to create dense, compressed surfaces that reflect the rhythm and texture of urban life. In these lithographs, that vocabulary is distilled into print form: bold, centralized blossoms emerge between abstraction and representation, balancing fluidity and structure.
Condon began with a generous poured form using lithographic tusche wash that anchors each print. Color is held primarily in the chine collé element, allowing the composition to expand while preserving surface tension.
The prints embody Condon’s long-standing interest in compression, layering, and the dynamic interplay between hard and liquid forms. Referencing sources as varied as Chinese scroll painting, splashed-ink traditions, Matisse, and Warhol, these works transform the familiar flower into a site of gesture, memory, and lyrical movement. The resulting editions retain a palpable topography while revealing the delicate gaps between release and constraint.
