Elisabeth Condon The Embrace Lithograph
The Embrace is a limited edition, hand-printed two-color lithograph produced in close collaboration with Elisabeth Condon and published by Obee Editions in partnership with the Emerson Dorsch Artist Residency.
In this edition, Condon distills her ongoing exploration of the flower into an intimate dialogue between blossom and leaf. The composition centers on a paired form that suggests both botanical structure and human gesture — an image of closeness, suspension, and subtle movement.
The print was created using poured lithographic tusche washes, allowing liquid texture to settle and bloom organically across the stone. This process introduces atmospheric variation and soft tonal shifts that contrast with the more defined linear elements of the drawing. The interplay between fluid wash and structured form reflects Condon’s broader interest in compression and release — where abstraction and representation coexist in dynamic tension.
Printed in two carefully balanced colors, Embrace captures the lyrical flow and tactile surface that characterize Condon’s practice, translating her poured painting language into the distinct materiality of stone lithography.
Elisabeth Condon is a New York–based artist whose paintings and works on paper explore the space between abstraction and representation. Drawing from Chinese scroll painting, splashed-ink traditions, and Western modernism, her work layers memory, gesture, and perception into richly compressed surfaces. Condon is known for her centralized floral compositions and poured polymer paintings, which balance fluidity and structure while distilling landscape into elemental form. Her work has been exhibited widely in the United States and internationally and is held in numerous public and private collections.
