Mark Dion "Mildred's Lane" Lithograph
This is an original hand printed lithograph. Lithographic plates were made from original drawing by the artist. The resulting image appears like a white line drawing on black paper, but the black is actually printed and the white is the "negative space" of the paper. The effect is similar to white chalk on a chalkboard. This pieces references how scientific illustrations label and convey information, but in this case the information is an absurd list of random ideas and concerns of the artist. This print was made specially to raise funds for Mildred's Lane, an artist residency in southeastern PA, by our good friend Mark Dion, a well known and highly collectable contemporary artist whose work has been featured at The Museum of Modern Art in New York, Martin-Gropius-Bau in Berlin, and the Tate Gallery in London. The print cheekily elucidates the constellation of interests and fascinations that animate the Mildred's Lane project.
