Set of 4 - Damien LaRue "Swann Suite"
Damien Larue collaborated with AI technology and collaborative printer, Perry Obee, at Obee Editions to create a limited suite of four hand-printed lithographs that bring together digital image-making, hands-on drawing, and traditional lithographic craft. Beginning with AI-generated imagery of palm leaves, LaRue worked extensively with the technology, developing, testing, refining, and selecting prompts and compositions to arrive at the final imagery. The AI process became an iterative part of his studio practice, with LaRue directing the visual development through sustained experimentation and careful editing.
Working in close collaboration with Obee, the artwork was prepared in four layers that were hand drawn by LaRue as lithographic layers and printed using traditional lithography techniques. The final suite features four distinct color variations, pulled from a curated palette of seven custom inks, with each version produced in an edition of three. The project represents an extended collaboration between artist, printer, and technology, moving from AI-generated imagery through extensive artistic refinement and hands-on drawing to the physical demands of traditional lithography.
Damien is an interdisciplinary artist based in Tampa, Florida and Asheville, North Carolina. He works primarily in printmaking, photography, and pastel drawing. His work is influenced by symmetry, optical movement, and elements from the natural world. Living and working in Florida has shaped much of his visual style. The light, landscape, and atmosphere of the state are recurring elements that inform his work.
